dumb mac question but do they downclock memory at all? i have a couple of old memory kits lying around that i've tried to install in a macbook pro, both ddr3-1333, but they crash at the same point booting. stock memory is ddr3-1066. i suspect that the system tries to run the fastest possible speed.
