Governance of the country should be decided by a 3 match series of Yorkshire v Lancashire four day matches, held every 5 years.

Of all the loveable things about seeing the Americans' interest in soccer during this world cup, it's not the worst but honestly why do they have to call their team by the catchy name "USMNT"? "USMNT" Honestly. Grow up.

If England win tonight they'll face Mexico next. The two countries in this world cup where I've had the best Mexican food.

Shame for Serena but sign of a much healthier sport that a champion, no matter how great can't just waltz back in after FOUR YEARS and win.

With that serve and movement, Toby Samuel would probably be unplayable at Wimbledon in the old serve/volley era. (If the era itself meant he learned how to volley)

I very rarely care about my age but when I realised that I'll probably never experience a World Cup without Matterface, I did have to have some time alone in a dark room.

I bet Jeremy Bates, Chris Bailey and Neil Broad are feeling pretty good today. After the Murray years, British tennis is finally back as I remember it.

Fitting that Mitchell, who focused, dug in and struggled his way to a match-winning 100 while getting hit repeatedly was the man who caught Stokes who made himself opener bashed a few and then got out and will lose.

4-2 against Croatia, 0-0 against Ghana. This is what happens when your universally beloved Prime Minister is forced to resign (As this is BlueSky, I must emphasise that this is a joke)

Still find it hard to believe that British people could possibly object to immigration surge caused by the invasion of Ukraine and Chinese authoritarianism in Hong Kong. I’ll go further, I don’t think they do object. I think they’ve been shown big numbers in bad faith by bad actors.

fip radio into my life. What a brilliant radio station for the middle aged person who enjoys having absolutely no idea what will come next. But somehow it's almost always great.

I didn't know Prospect magazine's Benjamin Clark would refer to racist harassment of me on X but he is free to do so. His Prospect piece reports it as my subjective perception - "for calling out what he sees as racist rhetoric on the site" to avoid a judgment call about the validity of my perception

I genuinely do not understand the benefit that they see to it. Or even the negatives that come from using any other platform. Not saying here obviously because this place is a bit shit. But that place. Jesus.

Part of what liberal democrats need to grapple with is that things like contempt of court, the speed at which watchdogs are able to report...these are now becoming vulnerabilities that are exploited by the enemies of liberal democracy.
