A few weeks ago, someone wrote that Canada was basically 5 banks and 3 telcos in a trench coat. My wife just told me something that just spiralled into corroborating that claim.

What happens to the Overton window when one party decided small tents were cool when they were 17 and aren't going to change their mind now and the other parties believe in big tents?

will likely be passed this week, and it will grow homelessness across Ontario β something our food banks, shelters, and municipalities do not have the resources to address. When you wonder why encampments are growing in your community, remember Bill 60. My remarks today at the OLA:

The Grey Cup is our Canadian game, and maybe never more than when Saskatchewan wins it. Iβm still unsure how the rule changes will affect the league, but this was a good example of how the CFL works, and should work.

The crazy thing is that this is probably true for a lot of people, but also, up until not that long ago, the CFL was the 2nd most popular sports league in Canada after the NHL.

I was sitting in front of my TV watching the
#GreyCup
broadcast from 6:30 or so until sometime after 7, wondering why the game hadn't started yet. Some kind of weather delay? Seemed plausible given the weather challenges for other championships lately.

Speaking of. I was watching the Grey Cup pregame. One guy says "according to Grok..." Later "Here's a profile of the Montreal QB with the help of AI..." Perhaps the CFL rule changes won't matter to me. I might just have to swear off TSN entirely from now on.

Well. One of the questions I've had is what happens with knowledge sharing in an era of LLMs? Why would I put myself out there only to have my knowledge slurped up by ChatGPT or Gemini or some such org can make profit selling it to someone else who can undermine my job security?

New rule: provinces can only use the Notwithstanding clause to take away a right if they replace it w/ a new one, chosen by the community most affected by the loss. So, if teachers in Alberta lose the right to strike, they gain the right to nationalise the oil patch & fund education better. Fair?

I am convinced that progressives need to start fighting fire with fire. When the hateful right steps over the line, step over the line with them and use it against them. You want to use the powers of the state to deprive rights based on identity? Fine. Let's do this. And go hard.

If the Notwithstanding clause can be used to ban citizens from managing their own health care, and be used to ban them from organizations... Then it should be allowed to ban Danielle from politics and from serving in office. For example.

When the UCP uses the notwithstanding clause tomorrow, watch defenders say, "it's totally legal" or "we had no choice." They're deflecting. The UCP wants to exact as much harm on transgender folks as possible. And they know their actions are not justifiable in a democratic society. Who's next?
