We play the game "Am I speeding?" — kiddo tells me yes, and to slow down. I'm doing 39 in a 50. Why does it feel so fast? Old neighbourhood, narrow road, overhanging trees, poles right near the road, cars parked. It all causes us to slow down. The same speed on a wide, open street is painfully slow.

We found this tiny turtle hatchling beside the parking lot at forest school drop-off this morning. Lucky baby turtle fell into the right hands and will soon be settled at the pond!

I walked for 40mins to LifeLabs today. It meant that I avoided inching through construction detours in my car. It also meant that I had several spontaneous conversations, admired many gardens (tulips!), identified some birds, and walked the trail that is lined with wild lilacs blooming. I won!!!

Kiddo and I just completed our census and wish we were long-form people because we love completing questionnaires. It was a great opportunity to talk about data collection methods, the relevance of statistics, and how information influences policies. We are such nerds. 😆

This week, kiddo will attend a full day of arts programming, a half day of forest school, three tennis lessons, a youth paint night, a tree giveaway, and a field trip to the Bell Homestead — all MUNICIPAL PROGRAMS in our county and the surrounding municipalities. We use them and are grateful!! ❤️

Today, along with friends, we attended a Turtle Workshop where we learned about Ontario's turtles, why they are at risk, & how we can help. Then we built turtle nest protection boxes. 100 years from now, there will still be turtles that are alive because we made these boxes. That is something. 💚🐢💚

Dr Bishop is freakishly tall and complains that the kitchen counter height is not compatible with his 6'7" frame. So I just had a custom cutting board made for him by a young man up the street. It's a thing of beauty. Guacamole is now in progress. It's a good birthday for him (and for us). 🥳
