RIP Tracy Kidder. “Mountains Beyond Mountains” was a life-changing book for me. Paul Farmer’s story — so beautifully told by Kidder — smacked the Gen X cynicism out of me and taught me that better things are possible if people care enough and work hard as hell. All the wrong people keep dying.
