DHS has a whole citizen detainment system set up in Minnesota. They snatch citizens off the street (often with proof they are citizens), detain them for a few hours, steal their phones, then release them into the cold. It ain’t about deporting citizens; it’s about terrorizing a whole population.

By the end we had the woman donating food, a dog walker, another woman driving by plus me and the Somali caregivers and their kiddo. The older Somali man hugged each and every one of us before heading on their way. This is what it’s all about. This is why we’re going to win.

Not just Minneapolis, the entire state of Minnesota needs federal reparations. And beyond just repairing the damage and rebuilding what they've destroyed, we need to think BIGGER about what kind of society we'd like to live in and instead build towards that.

I’ll be caucusing on Tuesday because it is *essential* that we elect courageous, un-bought progressives up and down the ballot this November. I hope the @dfl.org will arrange virtual caucuses and conventions for our safety and for the inclusion of those who have been forced to stay indoors.

I think its important for Minnesotans to start imagining what we want this place to look like after this occupation is over, especially now when it clearly isn't over. We've learned a lot about ourselves. Imagine! Fight for it. Contested primaries are a good place for this.

I subscribe to the St. Peter (pop. 12,066) Herald, and every week there’s news about ICE raids and protests in southern Minnesota.

Some things to understand about people from Minnesota on here right now, a short thread:

A legal asylum-seeker who works at Chipotle and plays music at a church in Maine went missing. His pastor searched and searched, eventually finding his abandoned car with the keys on the floor. ICE grabbed him. No criminal record. No explanation.

ICE is upset that ICE isn't welcome in restaurants after ICE ordered food at a restaurant, ate it, then arrested restaurant employees, and ICE believes this is someone else's fault, do I have that right?

Very little if anything seems to have changed on the ground. ICE is still out there terrorizing neighborhoods and trying to disappear neighbors. None of us on the ground are buying this bullshit. We will keep organizing and fighting.

The officer who shot Alex worked for DHS for 8 years. The officer who shot Renee worked for DHS for over 10 years. Both are considered “highly trained.” The problem isn’t "training." Everything they learned in Minnesota they’re applying in Maine from day one. They started off doing fast-moving snatch and grabs on the street, recording and using facial id on observers, and threatening observers directly. They’ll do it all where you live too.

on eat street today, pho 79 was giving out no-cost community meals; luna and the bear had free coffee for folks; cheapo had a sign up encouraging folks visiting alex pretti's memorial site to come in, warm up, and use the bathroom. good city full of good people imo.

It's amazing to me how many politicians and officials don't seem to understand that Minnesotans are filling the vacuum protecting the state's residents, created by pols' and officials' utter disinterest in doing so. They're all basically the cops of Uvalde.

The @democrats.org needs to crack down on these fundraising vendors and demand that @actblueorg.bsky.social remove them from their platform. These messages are made in the name of the party whether or not the top brass approves, so they need to take responsibility for it.

One thing that irks me: people keep calling the folks on the streets in Minneapolis protestors. They are not generally there to protest, they are there to observe and document. This is the product of organizing and mutual aid. It is telling that these acts of citizenship are seen as protest!
