Like, what about the binaries of citizens versus non-citizen? Rich and poor? Working class and ruling class? Politicians and constituents? Legal versus illegal? Their power rests on these and other beliefs. And we shake those beliefs, and that scares those in power absolutely shitless

I suspect part of it is that we trans people existing expose a lot of lies we were told growing up about how the world works. We are living proof that the gender and sex binaries are false, and since those are false, people might start questioning what else is false.
