Once again: close an area to cars, business *increases*. Every time. And yet every new proposal to close an area to cars meets the same resistance from business owners. I'm starting to wonder whether business owners really are rational self-interest maximizers, I tell you!

Western carmakers are retreating from EVs just as oil hits $100 a barrel. The parallels with Detroit in the 1980s are striking. They ignored fuel-efficient Japanese cars. Now theyāre ignoring Chinese EVs. BYD just unveiled 600-mile range and 250 miles of charge in 5 minutes.
