While his mountain of horrible personal conduct could fill multiple books, one fact in particular stands out: A year ago, Musk’s actions directly led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. He did it knowingly. And, worse — gleefully. Read more:

"What do you have against disabled artists who can only use AI to express themselves?" a) I don't think you know what artist means b) AI literally steals the work of disabled artists AND has stolen potential gigs from countless disabled artists struggling to survive.

Court holds Google liable for false claims in AI Overviews. Seems significant. "A regular search engine just points to outside websites. But AI overviews generate 'independent, new, and substantive statements' by evaluating and combining content from various third-party sites"

Landmark German ruling declares Google's AI Overviews are Google's own words and makes it liable for false answers
A German regional court has ruled that Google is directly liable for the content of its AI search overviews. According to the court, previous limited liability protections for search engine operators don't apply to AI overviews. In this case, Google's AI had falsely linked two publishers to fraud and made claims that didn't appear in any of the linked sources. The ruling could set a precedent for AI-generated content liability worldwide.

Lots of nice touches in the design work of children of men, including dirtying up cars based on concept cars from 2005 and the like, but before this most recent recent watch, I never noticed Clive Owned faded 2012 London Olympics shirt.

I have often remarked that many of the "popcorn buckets" are basically just toys that they encourage you to shove popcorn into a bit of space inside but in the case of castle grey skull, that's just literally true. One of the towers being a drink cup is pretty neat though

Some of the discussion of Roy Neary in Close Encounters of the Third kind gets really flattened. The depiction of his breakdown is heartbreaking. There's lots of talk of how he leaves his family but rarely of how his family leaves him.

Full review to come, but: DISCLOSURE DAY is fine. I'm happy we have an original movie from filmmakers who trust the audience to get stuff without being hand-fed. It's also messy, and I have Thoughts on its theology talk. Arrival does much of this better. But hey, we got the KC skyline in a movie!

I'd have to go with a out a 6/10 on Disclosure Day. Has it's strengths, and the craft is there, but the script just really isn't and Blunt is a really weak screen presence at this point. Lead casting hamstrings this one even worse than Elgort in West Side Story.

A common complaint about stories that I always find silly is "this conflict could have been solved by a conversation." That is true of of conflicts in real life. People are bad at communicating or don't want to for myriad reasons.

Ahead of the release of Spielberg's Disclosure Day this week, I want to beat the drum for another recent alien film Jordan Peele's Nope. It feels criminally slept on but for my money is among the best films of this decade. A very unique take on UFOs with some terrifying sequences. Greatly crafted.

There's a weird thing where movies constantly get described as "record breaking" but the actual records being broken aren't actually cited at all or if they are it's something like "Biggest 3rd Wednesday gross in May" or some shit.
