It sounds nice to have your own pool, but have you considered how amazing it is to have a pool in walking distance where there's almost always friends and snacks around, trained lifeguards, and zero extra costs or maintenance on your end. Public amenities are amazing!

Solidarity with colleagues at York U (Canadian one). Just like ours here in Cardiff, the uni management there wants to discontinue teaching in Religion and Theology. They say small programmes are a drain but are not providing the evidence. Meanwhile, the teaching is acclaimed. (Sound familiar?)
