We are appreciative of Cartmel’s ambition - less so the execution. The key thing is those McCoy stories show some ankle but never fully commit. Those who want full masterplan can join the dots; those who like the hints to remain hints (hi!) aren’t jaded.

I think the big problem for me with Robot Revolution and Lux is that they feel a bit "hacked to the bone". The pacing is *terrible* (first chunk of Lux was beautifully tense and slow, and then it completely went off the rails.)

I’m in arrears with watching the new series but once I’ve caught up I will make sure to listen to these chaps straight afterwards.

For Lux sake, I'm back at @whoculture.bsky.social for the next few weeks, reviewing Doctor Who season 2. Here's me trying to unpack why a Doctor Who story set in an old cinema left me cold despite being very much my jam on paper.
