I absolutely love the start of Reign of Terror part 6, where everyone just stands around awkwardly because they know the titles have to play out! 😂

The first film was a cornerstone of my youth, so I was half-and-half about the sequel. Upon seeing it though, I thought it was really good fun. But Cruise isn't infallible (see: the last Mission Impossible two-parter), and I'm just not convinced lighting can strike a third time.

Now that @thedwshow.net ep on Children of Earth has been out for a while I ask... ...Was the whole point of team Torchwood that they actually WERE kinda useless, leading inevitably to them begging for 4 eps to confront the alien, & then messing it up spectacularly when they do?

The new Adrian Mole. The original series is iconic AF to me because I loved the books and was watching it as it went out in the 80s at almost the same age as the title character. This looks like it's still set in the 80s which is retro-friendly, but will it grab a modern 13yo?

Good episode. Children of Earth is the best, & most disturbing season. It was shown over consecutive nights on BBC1. Not We work colleagues were talking 'around the water cooler' each day-it was big at the time! I've been lucky to meet 4 of the main cast to tell them how much I liked this one.

The Mandalorian & Grogu is tracking to open quite low at the box office. But is it that surprising, when it's not a mass market Star Wars film, but something based on a streaming series that many casual fans don't have access to and which also shat the bed in its third season for those who do?

We talk so often on the podcast about how it's the WRITING that makes or breaks a show or movie and so I was delighted to see David Duchovny asked about the new X-Files series that's going to pilot and his response was (paraphrased) 'It's all in the writing, stupid...'

The way people react to the Hollywood Walk of Fame always surprises me. Anyone can be nominated, but there's a fee. Then, if the person's nomination is approved, the fee for *that* is about 80K. So it's not like some random, free award, given for altruistic, or similar, reasons. It's all about $$$.

IMO debates about "is Dr Who left/right" "woke/non-woke" "political" etc rather miss the point. Tell exciting stories. Explore issues. Have strong mix of ideas. But extremism in all forms is bad, and sacrificing your morality because "the end justifies the means is bad". My 2c!

You know the state of current Doctor Who isn't stellar when people's made up 'gag' April Fools suggestions about upcoming storylines sound more like, 'Yeah, they'd probably do that...' than, 'What the hell?!?'

While I have a reasonable dislike for made up words, seemingly made up just to annoy people and trend online, what really gets me is butchering real word meanings. Someone said, "This coffee is so aesthetic..." the other day and I just about had an aneurysm. It makes people sound thick AF.

Well, that was wonderful. Davo, JNT, Saward, Strickson, Fielding all at the height of their powers. Classic CHB script. Amazing set design. That brilliant Kingsland score! And what a guest cast! My style of Doctor Who!

Never in my wildest dreams, when RTD stepped away from Doctor Who, basically a hero, and successfully handed the keys to Moffat, did I think he would a) Ever return and, b) Come to be universally known as the wrecker of the series. You never know what's around the corner in life, do you?

Amusing when people think every franchise can be easily reinvented, which quite often bypasses why fans like the thing in the first place... and then when it tanks they blame the fans. For what? For not liking something different to the the thing they actually like? Insane when you think about it.

This Gin & TARDIS episode of @thedwshow.net on the Warriors of the Deep special edition included a debate on the lighting of the Sea Base; where do you stand on this vital issue!? And on Silurians and flashing lights?!

Star Trek's 60th anniversary year - thus far - is making Doctor Who's 60th a few years back look like a polished, well-oiled machine - when it was anything but. Wow. A real, 'Hold my beer...' moment.

From everything I'd seen, heard, and said myself about this series... this wouldn't have even got a second season unless they had gone and made 99% of it before the first episode of S1 aired. Surely there's no extension to Kurtzman's contract now? variety.com/2026/tv/news...

The funny thing about this ep is that while it was saved and we didn't end up with a 'missing' ep of Gin & TARDIS, @davidkitchen.bsky.social and I *did* record a 25m conversation to take it's place if we couldn't run with the original ep and now *that* ep is 'the missing ep', LOL.
