Dinner last night was a great NY strip (we splurged on a prime, custom-cut steak as part of our anniversary dinners😄) pan-seared to a perfect med rare w/ sautéed onions, roasted potatoes, steamed broccoli w/sautéed mushrooms, salad &avocado. Anniversary is over. Tonight is chicken😏 #Grendellilycooks

Delicious- all about the sauce. North African, commonly used to poach fish. I used on broccoli instead of the green beans in the recipe (you know I HATE green beans), subbed Berbere spice for hot paprika - can see this on many proteins. @icookfood2023.bsky.social this is worth a think.

I made Mayak eggs (Korean soft boiled eggs marinated in soy sauce, green onion, chili peppers, garlic, onions, honey, and sesame seeds. The name translates to "drug eggs" due to their addictive qualities)…and ate them w/ rice and kimchi = Dinner 😊

Tonight’s dinner: Ginger Soy Chicken with Red Peppers

Home Alone food. Before & after. Salmon baked for 12 mins on a bed of sliced lemon, doused with olive oil, pinch of brown sugar, salt, pepper, lemon juice & sliced tomatoes for a little sauce. Deconstructed salsa. Microwave rice - my takeaway food. Yes, I eat the baked sliced lemon too 🤫 🍋 #foodsky🍜

Our anniversary! Hubs asked if I wanted to go out for dinner or have some big lobsters and champagne at home. Lobsters please! Two 2 1/2 lb guests of honor… and I did honor them before I put them in the pot. Steamed to perfection with just butter and lemon on the side. They were crazy delicious

Shrimp Scampi, not really. This is the way my Italian grandparents made it before it became Americanized with butter. Shrimp in a very light tomato sauce with wine, fettuccine pasta.

One a personal note, I went through hell trying to get my real Id. Let alone if you have taken your husbands name it beomes difficult, but if there was a previous marriage as many women have even more so. I was made to feel like a criminal, had to bring in documentation since I was born. Its hell.

Today I’m making dolma, after procrastinating yesterday (woke up “late” cause I forgot to change my clock). Pictured on the left, the first layer, onion skins, cabbage and cubano peppers, second layer (photo) Swiss chard and grape leaves, bottom layer, lamb breast…

Lamb kebabs w/onion, mushrooms & red peppers plus the usual salad. The loaf of Asiago cheese bread was still in the oven.😏 Mint jelly is the ONLY time I have HFCS in our house; you can’t find mint jelly without it and I soooo love it with lamb. (I’m a WASP and we don’t always have refined tastes😆)
