I tried the mashed potatoes hack of cooking the potatoes in milk….it threw me off, I couldn’t figure out the amount of liquids I needed to add, so I ended up adding more milk and cream…so it’s back to boiling potatoes in water…😁

Dinner tonight, baked (roasted) Cornish hens, marinated in pomegranate syrup, olive oil, shallots, garlic, Urfa pepper and chili flakes, salt and pepper of course, served with pomegranate syrup flavored rice and a salad.

So my brother takes baby dills and repurpose them, he stuffs the dills with Italian parsley, garlic and habanero. I make a mixture of cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar, pomegranate syrup and date syrup….it becomes dark, tangy, sweet and spicy…

Made some barley porridge, perfect for the cold California nights…😁. I cook pearled barley in the Instapot for an hour, then blitz it with a handheld blender, it’s very thick, so I heat a portion with milk, then it’s served with butter, raw sugar and cinnamon….

My lovely niece made the crust for their chicken pot pie dinner. She’s getting really really good with her pastries…

So my niece is a perfectionist, she was not happy with her first try of bread baking (I thought it looked good), so she facedtimed me and I had to walk her through every step of her second try, half a recipe (baby bread)…she’s very happy with her second try…beautiful crumb….

My niece just sent a photo of her latest creation, orange brioche cinnamon roll….her dad is complaining about all the baking she’s doing….
