I think there's also a tricky trap where you need to put yourself into Adventurer Mode (Do, Decide, Self-examine, Make Mistakes) rather than Student Mode (Analyze, Evaluate, Perfect), and reading documents/completing checklists puts you in the latter mindset instead of the former.

One thing you will never think after reading a great book or listening to a great album or seeing a great piece of art is, “I’m really glad this person remained cautious while they were making this and guarded against being perceived as weird.”

Not a lost art but rarely a priority. I’m super proud of what we did with South of Midnight. Appealing character designs & strong facial capture as the foundation. Then we were afforded the ability to focus on the asymmetry/appeal of expressions and my fav details, psychology of blinks & eye darts.

Watching your game make a grown man cry on stream and then have that immediately followed by a hype train with obscene notification responses has been the perfect moment of sincerity wrapped in absurdity I never knew I needed.
