Spending the night in County Kildare. I went on 2 of the 5 motorways here. Nothing like UK motorways, quiet, no stress and free flowing. Seems strange to be in civilisation.

I complained about the Dunnes store in Bishopstown yesterday. It has been extended and renovated recently but they didn’t upgrade the toilet facilities/ broken seat, smelly and a very grubby floor. Sinks/doors were changed but that’s it. Bigger store but very little choice in the ‘ethnic’ isle. 1/2

My father saw his oncologist today. The chemo has halted his bone cancer and the prostate cancer is under control. Review 6 months and regular medication. Lads dont ignore symptoms.

Lamb shanks in red wine for dinner tonight. We were given a bottle of red a few weeks ago. Rather aptly named

Anyone in the Malvern area- a friend’s daughter and her husband are looking to rent a house there. They have an elderly springer spaniel. Both have good jobs and are decent folk.

We have been very lucky here in SW. 5pm and 198,000 premises are without power with top gust of 148kmh at Malin Head in last hour. The sunny spells have reached most areas as the center of #StormAmy moves Northeast of Ireland.

As we still have power despite the storm and I’ve not been up to much today, I put myself through a 45min xtrainer program. 285cal used and I’m shattered.

A friend was coming over for dinner tonight. She lives on the opposite side of the mountain to me, at a similar elevation and this was her road as she got to a flatter part not far from her house.

The drainage ditch at the front of the paddock is full so the workshop driveway is rapidly becoming a lake.

So far today we have had 20cm of rain and it will not be stopping until later tonight. Tomorrow we have high winds. Trees are still in leaf on sodden ground, not a good combination.

Mr A persuaded me to watch Lucifer. It is trash with see through plots but I admit there are some lines that have made me smile. I think we will stick with it whilst it is amusing me. As always we are late to it.

Just made my father call his oncology team about his covid/flu vaccs as I thought the end of Oct appt from GP was too late. He is getting them on Sunday now.

Very early start for 08:30 city appointments. Both need further spine MRIs and they are booked for 17:00 on Wednesday- another 4 hour round trip. We’re back home now quick lunch before GPs for our Covid/flu vaccinations at 16:00. That’s Monday taken care of.
