Today, Sunday, but a week ago, me and ‘Box loaded up my car (boot and back seat) and headed off up to the Lake District. Granted we were taking our life in our own hands, as that’s oop north and apparently the natives are all called Liam. However, we had the best time. …cont

When my shoes get wet and muddy I let them dry out, then use a stiff brush to clean the muck off, feed the leather (if needed) then properly polish them. They’re 20 years old and have been re-soled 3 times. I’m not sure who actually bothers cleaning and polishing shoes anymore. Old or wise?

Having a lovely time in Ambleside. Given the price of petrol I’m not sure we can afford to go home. Might just have to stay here for the foreseeable. Oh well. It is what it is. 🥳

Anyway, dinner was here. Really would recommend. Need to book in advance tho.

For main course I opted for the baby back ribs with coleslaw, corn and shoe string fries. Kinda the ‘stuff your face’ option. 🐷 There was two lots of ribs, one stacked on the other. Just so much. However, their BBQ sauce was simply fantastic.

Nibbles - mixed olives, cream cheese stuffed peppers and focaccia bread with olive oil and balsamic dip.

Have moved on from t’pub to t’restaurant. Menu looks amazing.

Fuuuuck, I need this after a long day out and about (a good day). Ahhhhh.

Monday comes around a bit too quickly for my liking. Especially when the weather is so ruddy good.

I’m knackered having got up at 5:30am to pick ‘Box up from Heathrow. However, we had a ruddy brilliant Sunday together. But she’s been up for 32 hours now and is so tired she’s at the point of hallucinating (her words). So it’s goodnight from me, and goodnight from her. Goodnight. 🥱😴💤

Dining outside. I did a ‘bung it in the oven’ meal as I’m lazy, and added a few veg. Crispy chicken Kiev’s, dauphinois potatoes, with asparagus, samphire and buttered corn. Pigs bum. Etc.

It’s cooling off a little, so I’ve lit ‘ole smoky’. Quite proud of my homemade chimney, tbqhwy. The old one was mild steel and rotted away 5 years ago.

Back from a lovely couple of hours in the local beer garden. ‘Box now asleep on the hammock in our garden. The poor love is exhausted.

When I went to bed early last night and set my alarm for 5:30am, I must admit I wasn’t keen at the prospect of getting up. But honestly, it’s been a revelation. It’s only 5pm and it’s like the day has gone on forever. Even the drive back from LHR in the sunshine, my gal at my side, was ace 🥰.
