I arrived earlier today (much earlier today) to discover that Jim had bought some beautiful flowers for me.

I'm rather peeved that my body has decided to rebel against the amount of air travel I have done lately by making everything hurt. I'm shuffling around like an octogenarian and it takes me 800 years to get up from sitting in a chair.

Here's to you, Peg Bracken. You would have loved meal kits, air fryers and all the food deliveries, not to mention men learning to cook for their own selves.

It was finally published (a woman on the editing team saw the vision) in 1960 and became a runaway bestseller. Bracken relied heavily on processed foods and that was the reality of the real Mid-Century woman: get the damn food on the damn table.

My aunt gave me this book in the early 90s. I still have it, though I have rarely cooked anything from it. I love the title and the attitude behind it.

It's been a while since I've flown through my home airport midday on a weekend. It's so quiet. It's a pleasant airport, as airports go, nearly all the time anyway, but it is downright peaceful right now. Such a difference from Thursday's flight.

Medical helicopter/air ambulance flying low. It really rattles my house when they have to wait for the hospital rooftop landing pad to be ready and they do laps.

Just had a tornado warning. In typical Midwest fashion, it drew all of the neighbors outside to stand around and watch the sky, instead of seeking shelter. Got some great stormy sky pics, but won't share them as they would make it easy to id where I am. Learned that the hard way on Twitter.

Oh, and here's more. Anyone who visits my dad's house will find a dozen in process projects from this list and the other I posted. Plus all of the in-process stuff my mom left unfinished when she passed. 😢

I'm gobsmacked at how many of these my mom and/or dad did/do. See also: my mom's siblings and my cousins on that side of the family. It's not a majority of them, but definitely a large minority.

My whole life, I have been simultaneously Too Much and Not Enough for people. Usually both to the same person/people at the same time. This isn't a unique experience, I'm aware, but some days, it's exhausting.
