This past semester was the most stressful of my academic career. I had 180 students and about half cheated at some point in the semester They submit weekly reflections where the questions are opinion-based, graded only on effort, don't care about grammar SO MANY students submitted ChatGPT essays

and also the day I found out that after having active disease for the last two years, I’m back in remission! Best way to celebrate the day! The meds and clinical guidelines that got me to remission were not available when I was diagnosed 20 years ago, or even 10 yrs ago.

I started a new thing at Carleton College! It highlights the breadth of a liberal arts education, reminds students that faculty don't know EVERYTHING, and is loads of fun! In "Guess Lectures," faculty give 7-minute talks using someone else’s slides from an unrelated discipline, sight unseen.
