What I’ve taken in over the last couple years is that when people have an irrationally outsized emotional response to doing a task,90% of the time it is because they can’t do it — not that they won’t do it. They can’t. And most people will die trying to prove why that’s someone else’s fault.

I mean, ultimately, this doesn’t matter. What matters is what they choose to do. But this little bit of insight into how many adults really are just preteens has been very informative for me.

Because see that woman in those texts? She was just embarrassed. That’s all. Promoted beyond her abilities, she is probably experiencing a million new moments of embarrassment. So she lashes out. Her permissive parents — the Trump infrastructure — allow it and amplifies it.

So much now makes sense to me in a new way. The lashing out. The way people construct these stories around imaginary issues. The yelling and taunting. In politics and especially online, it’s just a bunch of adults acting like preteens on their first hit of hormonal cocktail.

I’ve seen the skeet about this principle. I concur. Seeing a preteen develop up close the last year or so has added a lot to my perspective on how adults behave. These people are truly just small humans having big emotions they cannot process because they have permissive emotionally absent parents.

Publishers de-prioritizing children's books is just crappy, but it's also shortsighted financially: 1. Kidlit is recession-proof! Parents will always need to buy books for kids. 2. If you're not fostering the next generation of readers, then you won't have a consumer base 10-20 years from now.

The silver lining is the Professor still has his faculty job, but this is explicitly viewpoint discrimination, a message that there is no such thing as faculty governance. All admin must be aligned with a political party. For all the talk of leftist indoctrination, this is no different from China.
