The ABSOLUTE joy of the final edit of the next episode of @sodisappointed.bsky.social saving after a day of slow MacBook fuckery. This is why I don’t like updating the software on my MacBook, it inevitably slows everything down.

In 1999, I exited The Phantom Menace vowing I would never set eyes on it again. I tried a rewatch before sharing my thoughts with the So Disappointed! podcast team, but gave up after 20 mins. This is my candidate for the most disappointing film of all time; next month the world will hear why. Feb 1.

Terry was swithering about whether or not to jump on the ‘photo from 2016’ bandwagon. Terry looked very different ten years ago.

I spent that entire afternoon doing my Darth Maul make-up. My homie went as Obi-Wan, both of us in full regalia. We both came out in that trying-to-convince-ourselves-it-was-good stupor, which lasted a few days before reality came crashing down... #ThePhantomMemories

The only film I’ve ever walked out of. My abiding memory; after years of buying Star Wars magazine and following the production with excitement, was crushing disappointment at it being so dull. I was embarrassed that I took people to it and could feel their boredom like a heavy fog in the cinema.

In retrospect, it was like watching the template for corporate cinema and franchises over the next quarter century. A movie designed to remind you of something you liked when you were younger and banking on your tastes never having evolved from that age. A joyless capitalist ode to selling toys.
