I'm in the midst of reviewing Doctor Who concept artist Peter McKinstry's new book The Art of Time Travel for DWM. Not only is it full of McKinstry's beautiful illustrations and insight into the creative process, it also emphasises just how hands-on RTD was/is in every aspect of that process.

Hello Bluesky hive mind. What’s the British tv drama I’m thinking of. I have a strong memory of it. It’s a one-off play type thing. Woman experiences a time slip and sees a man with broken glasses attacking her. She then meets the man and they fall in love.

If I do say so myself, I think this one is particularly interesting. So much so, we had to split it into TWO parts. The next episode will be available from tomorrow, 2nd November.

While doing some research for a Monkees-based podcast I'm recording with @outonbluesix.bsky.social tomorrow, I was *shocked* to discover that 33⅓ Revolutions per Monkee - their quite frankly dreadful post-Head TV special - was repeated *twice* by the BBC in 1969. Both times in an early evening slot.

We watched Close Encounters again. A profoundly beautiful film, a masterpiece, but the scene during Roy's breakdown where he's violently digging with a metal spade *mere inches* from his youngest child's fingers is perhaps the tensest moment in the entire Spielberg canon. It always makes me wince.
