This happened over 3 years. We adults let this happen. Schools encouraged this. We are denying millions of children a fulfilling, thoughtful future so we can funnel them into a place where they turn to a goddamn chatbot for comfort and friendship instead of each other.

Which is why it is crucial that lower and secondary schools push back genAI and AI edtech. We have to start teaching about it like we teach about sex, drugs, and alcohol: not abstinence but context and consequences. And we have to build curriculum that resists genAI, not celebrated it.
