This is what happens when a coup succeeds. They didn’t need to win on the day itself. The leaders knew that the system was fragile & cowardly enough to never truly hold them all accountable. All they needed was to fight from within the system itself. Just like a famous past failed coup leader.

But if you want the game's characters, you COULD adapt only Rinascita's story, and ignore Huanglong which came before since Huanglong's characters don't do shit.

And in this prequel scenario, you could have the Lord Arbiter (Rover's previous version) lose their memories or swap genders as they reincarnate. Give them a personality and show how they failed before. That could easily work as a standalone anime film.

People won't like that. But that's why you play the game. Gather your wives or husbands in the game. Use the anime to tell the story of an ensemble cast and not a Mary Sue. Or you could make a prequel about a whole different cast with a previous reincarnation of Rover, one that ends in failure.

There is no such Team 1A and Team 1B in Wuthering Waves. You got a whole cast of characters in Huanglong who do NOTHING once the Rover's finished there. Rinascita's characters are better, but still barely interact if the Rover ain't there. So, remove the Rover and choose a different protagonist.

Why is that easier for ZZZ's Agents? Their lives don't revolve around Phaethon. You can legitimately keep Phaethon out of the anime or have them as a recurring support character. But the biggest reason? The Cunning Hares. They're the first team you play, and they would be the MCs if Phaethon isn't.

It's so much easier making an anime adaptation of Zenless Zone Zero. You can take the character trailers, demos, songs, and even what they say to you in game as inspiration for a prequel, where you show each characters' past and how they meet and what they did as colleagues or friends

But if you go bold and decide not to have the Rover be the main character, you'll get hate from people who wonder how the plot would work. And that's the problem right there. Rover is a black hole. Nothing matters without them and that's horrid storytelling.

If Wuthering Waves got an anime, you're already faced with the question of using either Male Rover or Female Rover, and sad fact is if you make it about Female Rover, you'll alienate the mostly male Gathering Wives audience. If you choose both, you're changing the story to try to accommodate both.

It's difficult to make a one to one anime adaptation for a live service video game built entirely around turning you into a gambler. You're better off making a prequel or removing the player character altogether and making it about the rest of the cast.
