"her memory is a cloud she can't hold..." Lots of feels with this poem for my mum. Sent with love for anyone with a parent or loved one with Alzheimer's/dementia. It's a journey. (And thank you
@poetsorg.bsky.social
and Rick Barot for sharing this one. It means a lot.)

Another little poem Heorot It is a moon dead night, the stars seem somehow disordered. We have lost our bearings. The hearths in Heorot have cooled, small ash mounds, grey as death. The mead hall is silent now, not a single sleeping breath. Grendel does not need the moon to find his way home.

Tiny poem. Why not? It’s a Gothic kind of day. A quite ordinary kiss, lips soft, warm, familiar, but then a taste of blood in the mouth, a sense of something you had thought drowned, and the mist rises above the lake.

it certainly worked for me. you pick up the 'song' of your language, the stanzas, the rhythm, the motifs... and later, if you are introduced to another language, you learn the faster, recognizing the different song, learning it, enjoying it. give your kids the gift of reading to them.

European countries want Brazil to increase forest conservation (it certainly can). But some of the world's best opportunities to spare & restore carbon in native forests—while displacing the least food production—actually lie in Europe. Our analysis shows this:

Swift populations in Britain slumped by 66% between 1995 and 2022 and have continued a rapid downward trend. They travel over 7,000 miles (11,000km) every year to get to UK only to find there is nowhere for them to nest and left to perish outside A mere £35 for developers would have saved them

I think this

interview demonstrates how the focus of the curriculum review was subject related and secondary focused. I don't think it actually deals with key issues around young people's engagement and wellbeing within the English system.

“[I]ntimidation, threats of cessation of business, threats of family members losing visas.” Appalling, embarrassing breach of diplomatic conduct. Assume instructions for such unconscionable behavior came directly from Rubio and his minders, which tells you everything you need to know about them.
