There's a pretty middle class assumption that everyone drives and travels overseas, and as a result, has a form of official photo ID. Plenty of people don't and it's a royal pain in the neck trying to prove your ID without.

While I absolutely agree that BBC News and Sky News carrying a Reform press conference uninterrupted for nearly an hour is unjustifiable and dangerously out of kilter with how they treat other parties, I would also point out that it's a much cheaper way of filling a gap than doing actual journalism.

In Swedish, a word for what you eat to bridge the gap between meals (or while waiting for the main course to cook) is stödmacka. It means "support sandwich." A similar word in Norwegian is ventepølse, or "waiting sausage."

Elon Musk has shared an obviously AI-generated image of the Unite the Kingdom rally in London. The first AI error is that the Arc de Triomphe is in Paris, not London. And once you zoom in, you'll notice that the Union Jacks and the crowd have other errors typical of AI images.
