⚠️The start of a #ceasefire (already violated) is not the end to accountability or outrage. Here's what I find absolutely abhorrent as I sift through our @msf.ca data: Over 2 million Palestinians being forced into 13% of #Gaza- a patch of land so small that the scale of suffering is catastrophic.

Human rights should never be conditional. In #Gaza, 2 yrs of systematic dehumanization through a brazen genocide has denied civilians the even the most basic necessities. This week, our @msf.ca teams resumed medical + water activities in Gaza City. Here's what we've done:

#GAZA: We've been living now through years of brazen undermining of agreed upon global norms and conventions such as international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions. Should it come as any surprise that the definition of a ceasefire has become meaningless as well? ⬇️

#Gaza: Doctors without Borders is deeply disappointed that Dr Mohammed Obeid, a respected orthopaedic surgeon, and long-time MSF colleague, remains detained and was not released as part of the recent #ceasefire agreement. We call for his immediate and unconditional release.

📣 Humanitarian aid is a moral duty, not a political weapon. Although some aid has entered #Gaza, #Israel still restricts access, delays shipments +bans critical items. This blocks @msf.ca from operating with the urgency needed. Aid needs to flow freely, safely, at scale, NOW across #Gaza. More⬇️

“There's been a responsibility for world leaders including Canada to uphold International Humanitarian Law and that doesn't simply go away at the flip of a switch or the announcement of a peace agreement,” says @sana.msf.ca, Executive Director of MSF.

💔 This is Omar Hayek. He was a kind man, the sole provider for his family, & one who brought the highest level of professionalism to his work as an occupational therapist for @msf.ca. This morning, Omar became our 14th colleague killed in an #Israeli attack.

My colleague Hussein was a dedicated nurse and father. Yesterday, he died of injuries from an Israeli airstrike in Gaza. Our thoughts are with Hussein’s wife and young children. His killing isn't a tragic accident, it's unacceptable proof that no one is safe from genocide.

#Gaza: Along with hundreds of others across the Strip, our colleague Alaa Abd-Elsalam Ali Okal was killed in on March 18 following the resumption of Israeli attacks. Hundreds more were injured in this abrupt end to the ceasefire. Our thoughts are with his family.

These are not just numbers. These are parents, children, loved ones. This is not a tragedy. This is a crime against humanity. @msf.ca will continue to provide aid to #Palestine. We will continue to bear witness. But our work is not enough to solve issues that are emblematic of political failure.

#Haiti: On March 15, Doctors Without Borders was forced to suspend activities at Turgeau hospital due to rising violence. As our teams evacuated, four of our vehicles were fired upon. Two drivers sustained minor injuries. This attack is a blatant disregard for humanitarian work.

One child in #Afghanistan has died daily from #measles in 2025, 3x more than 2024: @msf.ca. #Europe is seeing a 25 year high + outbreaks being reported in North America. #Measles is preventable. The shift to privatization in #publichealth has: ➡️Widened racial & economic disparities ➡️Prioritized profit over delivering necessary services 🌍Now more than ever we need a world that puts people over profit.
