I played some of the demo for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined this evening and it got me to fish out my Dragon Quest Illustrations book. The monster designs are just so charismatic. When I play the games I get excited to just look at them in battles. I even love the palette swaps!

I’ve been rewatching Still Game recently and I’m reminded what a beautiful, devastatingly sad ending the show had. I shed a flood of tears as I watched each cast member fade away. Something especially sad about Isa being one of the last to go, losing her friends to nose on and gossip about.

The Dragon Quest VII Reimagined demo is up on the eshop! I do appreciate that they do this sort of thing, especially in January when everyone is skint! I remember the demo for Dragon Quest XI was about 8 hours or something - so they tend to be quite generous with these.

I broke my favourite coffee cup yesterday that was gifted to me from one of my former students. Quite sad about it.

I must have done hundreds of Dark Souls runs and have maybe only encountered four(?) vagrants. These rare, esoteric game features are fascinating and what I love about these games.

A little bit of heavy industrial #reference for you with a bit of animation to go along with it. I push that you should add movement to your work to and that goes for environment stuff and this is big enough I feel it passes into that side of art.

I can’t remember where I heard it, but the best advice I got for enjoying Dragon Quest games was to play them after a bath/shower for an hour before bed and that’s how I experienced the phenomenal Dragon Quest XI. The games definitely feel like they are designed around chill 1 hour sessions.

Laputa / Castle in the Sky for sure. The robots! The pirates! The score! (And the silence!) The tree! I first saw it when I was 7 or 8 maybe, and it sank right into my marrow.
