Summer has gone & darkness arrives earlier each evening, the perfect time for ghost stories. Tomorrow at 10pm BBC4 is showing the 1970’s adaptation of The Signalman by Charles Dickens. Here’s an unpublished illustration I made a couple of years back. I love this story, I’d love to illustrate it.

The Wreck of the Isa, Culduie

On this day in 2023 I took one of my favourite ever photos of #Iceland. This is Hekla, with so many layers of mountains and hills in between, taken up in the Highlands on a beautiful day.

Away tomorrow, have a billion things to do to get ready and have just massively hurt my knee whilst walking the dogs so now having to lie on the sofa hoping it stops being a twat pronto 👌 On the upside, I made this bonus monoprint when I was cleaning the printing plate yesterday. I rather love it.

TV equivalent of finding a £20 note down the back of the sofa… I finally watched this on Now TV. I didn’t have Now when it came out and then forgot all about it. I really love Christopher Lee. It sort of made me heartbroken again that he’s gone but it was v interesting. Lovely bits of animation too.

My kids went to this school which was at the other end of the road we lived on at the time, so I have a particularly soft spot for it and would loved for them and their pals to have had this kind of opportunity… But any project anywhere like this is worth supporting.

Yesterday’s Ferris Wheel pinhole (with fish eyed lens) experiment, now blended with a digital colour shot from the same position. Bit of fiddling about to mix out all the colour bar the ferris wheel’s cars.

Also back in the habit of taking iPhone photos, same position as the pinhole, through a prism. Then blending the shattered photo with the pinhole via the Photoleap app. I really like the mess of colour overlaid across the B&W. I should get a scanner for the pinholes and explore this trick properly.
