What lost him the Labour leadership in 2015 was Harriet Harman taking a position to not oppose the welfare cuts being rushed through by the Tories and only Corbyn thought it sensible to say he opposed it. Everything snowballed from there...

Why is this even a question. Birmingham is the second largest city in the UK by some margin. Oh and then its Glasgow and Leeds. This is like asking people if the Earth is flat. Just because they may say it, it doesn't make it true.

Looking forward to listening to this albeit I did misread it as the Battle of Quiberon first and had to double take. The French (Republic) definitely didn't need anyone to feel sorry for them after that one, albeit the Royalists I suppose felt differently...

The crazy part of this is that a couple years ago, the US increasing its military presence in Greenland would’ve been celebrated by Europeans as a strong signal of allied solidarity. Now, it’s seen as a serious threat to Greenland’s (future) sovereignty, rightly so.

In the end, making Putin threaten, moan and beg to hold his pissy little 45 minute parade, from which he ran away like a frightened schoolboy, revealed more about the real state of the war than anyone could have expected.

A guess a lot people will be spending a lot of today checking some slowly changing numbers on a BBC webpage. If you enjoy that sort of thing and want it to be a more than annual occurrence - can I recommend getting into county cricket?

The Papal statement after meeting with Rubio was a significant rebuke to Trump and the US administration. No niceties, little agreement and the acknowledgment of strong differences of opinion. US standing in the world has arguably never been so low.

This is a key point in a good article by Sadiq Khan. It's possible to come up with long, involved explanations of why people should not feel threatened by particular chants, but the reality is that many do. So the humane response is to stop using those chants.

Péter Magyar victory speech: "We want to make a country where no one is persecuted because they think differently or because someone loves in a different way to others." He may not have campaigned as a liberal. But this is a huge change of direction and rhetoric from Orbán’s anti-LGBTQ+ crusade.

Recklessly producing and then accepting a situation where a foreign power can restrict freedom of navigation is not just a strategic defeat, it is a reversal of the most fundamental foreign policy and national security priority of the United States since the founding of the republic.

Hey media-- Pam Bondi is not a victim -- she willingly carried out Trump's political agenda to prosecute his political enemies and undermine free and fair elections. Todd Blache is not shouldering a "burden" or "walking a tightrope." He is a willing accomplice. Language matters.
