Got my spine and hip MRI reports from Saturday. In my neck above where my fusion starts at T1-L5, my spinal cord is being squished, but we can't see why. Both of my hips are severely impinged and my left labrum is torn. I'm likely going to need a fourth spinal fusion and bilateral hip surgery.🫠

Some trauma isn’t really predictable. A lot of it is infuriatingly predictable. Some parents are evil. A lot of parents are broken by the system and unequipped to insulate their child from the trauma that comes with that. We can intervene, but we choose not to as a country.

Prevention doesn’t look like DARE. Prevention looks like robust parental leave. A minimum wage adequate for a decent living. Well-funded public schools and after-school programming. Head Start. Healthy food. Community. Support for families. On-ramps to college. Safe housing for everyone.
