My hottest mental health take: A lot of depression and anxiety is situational, and warranted, because people live in shit circumstances. They’re poor, without resources, etc. and the reason it’s become popular to blame “mental health” is because it’s a way of evading responsibility.

I would still have mental health struggles, but what last half decade would have been like without local abuse culture, transmisogyny, dire poverty, disregard for higher-risk folks, union-busting, liberal anti-trans harassment and, well, outright fascism...is an almost unimaginably better situation.

Yeah. It always feels like, "Money can't buy happiness" has never had to worry about rent, groceries, and the capacity to treat themselves regularly at the same time. Like bruh, not having to worry about both my rent & whether I have saved enough to retire @ 65 is exhausting.
