Coercion and involuntary treatment are harmful and criminalizing, even if they're happening at the hands of "caring" professions. This is why we've been organizing together with health care workers and providers committed to interrupting and resisting harm in the context of care. Learn more:

We have faced down this threat twice already via public backlash. First time was under Kenney in 2021. They backed down. Second time was a UCP-city council alliance in 2024. They backed down again. Don’t let this seem inevitable. Start organizing — they do not have the support they project.

How a government treats freedom of information requests tells you whether they see themselves as working for the public or lording above the public. Government information BELONGS to the public. It should be free. It's not theirs to do with as they please. It's ours.

The Mental Health Act is also under scrutiny in BC’s Supreme Court. Both sides of the court case have asked for a six month stay on proceedings, so there’s absolutely no reason to rush Bill 32 through without consulting those it impacts.

With any changes to a system so complex and consequential, you need a clear plan. The amendments under Bill 32 have been pulled together hastily, with minimal consultation and conflicting explanations of its intent.
