More people in BC are getting the care they need, closer to home. Since 2023, over 600,000 people have been connected to a family doctor or nurse practitioner. And we’re now connecting 200,000+ British Columbians each year to a family doctor or nurse practitioner.

Donald Trump’s loss is British Columbia’s gain. Thousands of US doctors, nurses and health professionals are applying to work in BC, because our system is based on the needs of the patient — not their ability to pay. BC now has more doctors per person than anywhere else in Canada.

Happy 3 years of free birth control! Over 407,000 contraceptives have been dispensed since we launched Canada’s FIRST universal contraception program. As reproductive health faces growing attacks, we’re removing barriers and supporting choice through initiatives just like this.

Students, staff and UBC residents will now have greater access to timely, urgent health care at the new UBC UPCC seven days a week. People will get team-based care, including access to X-ray services, and it will ease pressure on emergency departments.

For the past 2 years, people in BC have been able to screen for cervical cancer at home. BC is the first province in Canada to offer self-screening using HPV testing — more accurate, earlier detection that helps prevent cancer.

On March 26th, residents of the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas will now have better access to team‑based primary care with the Port Coquitlam Urgent and Primary Care Centre opening. The centre will welcome people seven days a week, from 9am-8pm, including statutory holidays.
