In my experience there are two flavours of trans allies that actual nail being an ally. 1. The lesbians who forgot your trans and 2. People who don't know your trans Everyone else occasionally fucks up. Which isn't a problem just be graceful when I point it out.

My entire childhood my family called me weird, effeminate, girly, too sensitive and more behind my back. The second I come out suddenly "there were no signs" Like excuse me y'all *were* the signs. Like what do you even want?

One of my favourite things about transitioning is how much more emotionally available I am. Before I could only really talk to people if there was a point. Otherwise I didn't have the capacity. Now it's like I just call my friends to check in and hear about their day. It's the best.

If EVERYTHING you think you know about trans people has been learnt from social and mainstream media over the past 10 years, and not an actual trans person, it's probably 80% garbage. Talk to a real trans person. Read a book published before 2015. We are anything but new, and We. Are. Going. Nowhere

Excellent article which uses the Cass review as an example of how the term "evidence-based practices" can be easily weaponized into policy defining outcomes while essentially not providing with evidence to support those policies.

In every country where trans women can legally use the right restroom there is no increase to violence on cis women. In every country where trans women are prevented from using them there is a 4x increase of violence towards trans women. My safety is less valuable than your comfort.

A lot of our political discourse boils down to "I have the RIGHT to say that I don't believe you are a person, and if me saying so results in you suffering the harms of non-personhood, that's not my fault, and if you try to stop me from dehumanizing you, you are discriminating against me."

Why are we not seeing articles like "4/5 patients who receive chemotherapy recover from [specific type of cancer] but the fact that 20% don't should give doctors pause about administering chemotherapy"? It really gives away the ruse that this is the only kind of healthcare discussed like this.

I was talking to a friend about the whole “protecting women and girls” thing today. They say that because it sounds like one thing, but it’s *actually* something else. It’s “women and girls are weaker than men” “are less than men” “should look up to men”… … “should be controlled by men”

"No one thinks trans people change sex", "women can be male", "gender affirming care", "GRS"--so much trans politics has been developing euphemistic language to soothe the understanding of cis people, even "supportive" "allies", in a way that preserves "sex" as an immutable category.

I realise that to cis people, when trans people lose access to gender-affirming care, it seems like we're bitching about not getting our little treats. I have more than one friend whose body is currently falling apart because it no longer makes its own hormones and the government banned their HRT.
