The parents were failed by the unchallenged falsehood that flu is any little sniffle. What these people think is & what they call flu are things like cold viruses, which aren't nearly as dangerous for most people. Flu is always dangerous. Flu can cause complications & it can kill. The flu can be deadly. We have had vaccines to mitigate it. The fact that people think there is something else to it is the problem. The 1918 flu killed young healthy people.

How does it not make sense? COVID, influenza, RSV, and other airborne viruses are potentially deadly. Vaccines help prevent against that, greatly reducing the risk of a fatal outcome. It makes perfect sense. It's basic science.

Just got over this flu. With this year’s vaccine, it kicked my butt for a week. Slept nearly three days straight. Can’t imagine how bad it would have been without the flu vaccine, even if it’s a bad match for the current strain.

I've seen so many kids this season with flu - thankfully none among the deaths so far this year. Most of the sickest aren't vaccinated. Either they usually get vaccinated but didn't get around to it this year or they never get the flu vaccine because they thought flu was just a cold. It's not.

Every year I see many families decline the flu shot and as hard as I try to impress upon them that the flu is dangerous and not a cold, it doesn’t seem to resonate. The flu is not a joke and kills healthy kids every year. The vast majority of pediatric flu deaths are in unvaccinated kids.

I think people are usually wrong about the direction of the distraction. I think it’s seldom an intentional distraction by Trump; Trump doesn’t do strategy. He lacks, among other things, the necessary impulse control. Mostly it’s Trump gets distracted, & he’s influenced by people w access to him.

Already widely reported that this year's flu strain is hammering kids more than adults. It's a mean strain for _everyone_ but has been super tough on under-17 y.o.s It's a _great_ year to introduce kids to the flu shot (help their immune systems work Smarter not Harder).

No. Flu mutates every year, which is another reason you need an annual flu shot. This year, the mutation was a troubling one: it might be helping the flu evade your immune system longer, so it can multiply rapidly. AND bad timing: this mutation occurred _after_ the vaccine was formulated.
