we have a president with a tenuous grip on small legislative majorities who is out of the gate with a flurry of dramatically unpopular orders and who has just demonstrated his weakness on the international stage. if i were an elected member of his domestic opposition, i might try to draw real blood.

No wonder why I'm considering running for public advocate. On NY1, Assembly Member Jenifer Rajukmar said: "So many New Yorkers have almost been hit by a dangerous e-bike.â Yet no one followed up: âALMOST been hit? Last year, 4,168 cyclists and 8,787 pedestrians WERE hit and injured by car drivers."

âPlot armorâ is one of the dumbest critical buzz phrases. âWhy doesnât the central character of the movie die 50% of the way into it? Plot armor!â Itâs like asking why SAVING PRIVATE RYAN wasnât about one of the guys killed on the beach. If theyâre dead, thereâs no story to follow

The fascists should find it hard TO DO EVERYTHING. They should not be able to find people to work for them. People should act like they are invisible. You did not hear them. You did not get that email. Oooh, did you ask for a pencil? I thought you said stencil.

I've built a machine that can be Confidently Wrong. It can also make pictures that all look a bit the same, as well as make a video of you kissing any celebrity or person you know. In payment, I'd like to boil the world's oceans dry, & steal all literature. For some reason, my head is not on a spike

We should challenge a lot more directly this very common idea in American politics that cities exist only to provide comfort, luxury, and labor to the suburbs.

In light of the coming week, a few words from ANDOR: âThe Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle.â

I just have to say: it remains *insane* that, in the year of our lord 2025, you can't just go on the internet, customize the car you want, and order it delivered to your door. There is zero practical reason not to do this, but auto dealers have written the shitty dealership experience into law.

Gottheimer keeps using the "hardworking families" line but apparently does not apply that term to hardworking families who rely on the bus or the train. The only people who matter to him are the small number of people who drive into Manhattan.

A friend pointed out a couple weeks ago that Bill Clinton, George W Bush, and Trump were all born in 1946 and I keep thinking about how it feels like our political imaginations are being held hostage, with occasional outliers, by a very particular generational precept of the nation.

One thing Newsom should do *right now* is a statewide rent freeze. They did it during lockdown, they can do it again. And yes, statewide, because every landlord within 200 miles of LA is eagerly waiting for fire refugees to move into their area.
