Romance/relationship stories often include breakups because of cheating with the next partner, was hurt or to clear the way for a new one, but how many times it happens because one partner chose to stay true to self over the “us”? This year it feels more like the Farce of July.

It started in book 1 but I continue the theme of gender violence and abuse in #martathetarotist book 2 because is not only the physical and sexual kind. Is also hindering potential, ignoring accomplishments, favoring sons above daughters as many mothers do. It is still happening and it must end.

Another theme in #martathetarotist book 2: Witch hunts and trials were a form of genocide, femicide, and ethnic cleansing created and empowered by patriarchy starting with family and all the way to organized religion through their outlets like churches and partnership with governments.

On Juneteenth, we celebrate Black freedom, resilience, culture, and the enduring strength of community across generations. We acknowledge our nation’s full history and the long, ongoing fight for freedom and justice for Black Americans.

When you write characters in your stories, do you give a lot of importance to their physical appearance? When I wrote my first novel I was set on not doing that because I thought that being it a romance novel, I’d leave it to the reader to imagine the characters as their “dream” partner.

I started reading Anne Rice in my senior year in college. I was captured by her narrative since I felt like lucid dreaming of the places and times of her stories. I learned that no matter what you write nor the purpose, you must capture or seduce your audience with the story.

Plot lines or characters? I guess it depends on the story you want to tell. Some readers/listeners are interested in "how things turned out," while others can "see and talk" to the characters since it is them who are more interesting. What's your take?
