Kaleb Horton was one of the writers whose qualities I was consistently chasing (and usually feeling like I failed to match) in my own work. Got to have a lovely lunch with him just once, right before I left LA. An extraordinary loss.

I don’t have much to add that hasn’t already been said by people closer to him but he captured the California that *I know and grew up with*, the desperation and beauty of the Central Valley, the dark corners and the bright lights- talented beyond belief and gone far too soon
