Actually, Meghan, trans people have been using the bathroom for decades. In fact in 2016, the last time Republicans engaged in bathroom panic, people freaked out because trans men went into women's restrooms and suddenly, people discovered that there were way more trans people than they thought.

I'd say "yes, and." There is the belief that we're not supposed to have these things given the presumptive inherent inferiority, much less that Black life thrives under conditions designed to stamp it out. On this view, our very survival is an affront to the established order.
