After days of counting ballots and shrinking Bruce Harrell’s initially lead, Katie Wilson looks poised to become Seattle’s next mayor.

Wilson was 1,346 votes ahead of incumbent Mayor Bruce Harrell after Tuesday’s ballot drop. She'd been up 91 votes the day before.

Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell has a 7-percentage-point lead (53.3% to 46.2%) over progressive challenger Katie Wilson. But there is a very good chance he will end up losing. 🧵 1/7

From @kuow.org's analysis: "Here in Washington state, mailed ballots come in daily batches. The count historically inches left with each new afternoon drop, as younger, more liberal voters tend to cast ballots later than their elders."

Bruce Harrell leads Katie Wilson 53% to 46% in the first ballot count tonight. It's not unusual for the more progressive candidate to trail in the first drop and that gap will certainly narrow in later counts. Especially since so many people seem to have voted at the last second this election.

Tuesday is the 2025 general election for several key races in the Seattle area. Check in here to see live results starting around 8 p.m. PT.

Early results in Seattle have more progressive candidates with significant leads in the city attorney and council races but not the mayoral race. Bruce Harrell is ahead of Katie Wilson by about 7 points. Curious about the folks who voted for Bruce Harrell but against Sara Nelson, etc.

Friends, you have three hours to get those ballots to a ballot box. Make it so.

Harrell said through a spokesperson that he did nothing unethical, as the club was in his district, and council members are supposed to help constituents.
