Katie Wilson being a socialist will come up a lot, particularly from the right. It’s true she identifies that way, as she told Danny Westneat. But I found it interesting that Seattle’s DSA chapter voted against endorsing her. Unlike Mamdani, she’s not affiliated with any socialist organizations.

Well, I just got a bounceback email from Harrell's campaign spokesperson saying she's not with the campaign anymore. This race could very well go on until late December!

Here, to my knowledge, was the city’s last hand recount, in 2015 between Lisa Herbold and Shannon Braddock for city council. Nine votes changed, all of them write ins reclassified as under votes. Herbold and Braddock’s tallies remained the same.

The word from King County Elections is we'll probably get around 35,000 Seattle ballots in today's count. That will leave roughly 10,000 left. It sounds like they had quite a few "cured" ballots come in over the weekend that will be counted Tuesday (Yes, they're counting on Veteran's Day).

King county elections just sent a notice saying they expect 50k Seattle ballots in today’s drop, 100k countywide. That leaves at least another 50k in Seattle after that.

Decision Desk HQ appears to have called the race for Harrell. I think that’s quite premature.

Wilson won today's vote with just under 52% of the count. If that's the number going forward, she will lose. But King County Elections is going slowly and I don't know what kinds of ballots (drop box vs mail) are still waiting to be counted.

Per King County elections, expect around 30,000 ballots in Seattle's drop today. Seems likely this thing is headed to next week.

Here's a helpful chart on the "progressive surge" from 2021, published in The Seattle Times. That said, every election -- and how votes are counted by KC Elections -- is a little different. I think we may have a pretty good idea of where the mayor's race is headed after today.

🚨 As of 8:00am today, King County Elections is reporting that turnout in the City of Seattle has reached 54.83% with 277,102 ballots received. A note about last night’s update: turnout was actually reported as 50.26%. So turnout has grown another 4.5% overnight.

King County elections confirmed to me that so far they’ve only counted ballots up to those submitted Monday or early on Election Day, and none from drop boxes. Wednesday reflects basically a wrap up of what they started counting Tuesday.

The general wisdom is that Wednesday is a continuation of election night and Thursday is when the lefty trend shows up. Nonetheless, this gives Harrell a bigger cushion heading into tomorrow and Friday.

According to King County elections they had "a LOT" of dropbox activity in this election (emphasis theirs). They expect there's probably another 230-235K ballots countywide, so probably 115K or so in Seattle. Tonight will be a drop of 50-55K countywide, 25K or so in Seattle.
