Lots of folks want to have a gotcha, "did you know: America has always had corruption!" No shit. But did you know: a huge reason millions of people came to this country was because it was *better* at things like the rule of law and not being openly corrupt. For real.

Couldnât agree with this more. Not only does our algorithm-focused entertainment model trap us in binge-watching loops, it also prioritizes the safe and the nostalgic over all else - encouraging endless rewatches of Friends or The Office over a new show or an original movie.

This is what I keep coming back toâfrom stuff like this, to the "debate me" MAGA bros who show up on college campuses: the desire on the right for prolonged engagement with the left is wildly asymmetrical and unreciprocated, and speaks to a kind of contempt laced with deep affinity and desire.

Obviously the timing is significant too - trump wanted to run out the clock on funding that would expire but which congress wouldn't have voted to approve. This rewards bad faith, which, in itself, makes any application for equitable relief unwarranted.
