I keep noticing anti-medicine folks always ask for "cures". As in, that's their idea of medicine: "cures", like playing a game and you get poisoned you so you chug an antidote and the poison goes away, that's how they think medicine works. They genuinely don't understand the concept of "treatment".

$345 is actually a bargain for a first edition of Old Man's War, there's only 3700 of the first printing and just 7700 of the standard hardcover, not counting Science Fiction Book Club versions (which are black where the Tor version is blue). Signed versions of 1st printing can sell for $1k+.

So what's happening here is that Walz is likely negotiating a deal where ICE would be allow access to our justice system to detain supposed undocumented people accused of crimes. Note the "accused." ICE is grabbing people from *pre-trial* hearings, so people who have not had their day in court.

Yup. This is also why I get annoyed when people start suggesting "golden age" science fiction titles to people who are new the genre and are asking for suggestions. You want to turn a modern 15-year-old off science fiction forever, recommend stories that were old when her grandparents were her age.
