72 should have 5 minute frequencies in the East Bay. We can make this happen. First step is passing Connect Bay Area measure. Then next year campaign to restore 72R. And after that make bus rapid transit happen from Oakland to Richmond. BRT would spur huge ridership, housing and economic growth.

Make Hopkins Street Safe for ALL!
On April 15, Berkeley City Council Facilities, Infrastructure, Transportation, Environment & Sustainability (FITES) Committee will weigh in on a proposal several Councilmembers have put forward to repave Hopkins Street without any bike or transit infrastructure improvements. Act now to urge the FITES committee to instead recommend repaving Hopkins with pedestrian, bike, and transit improvements, as approved in an earlier 8-1 council vote. We can't afford to miss this opportunity. Protected bike lanes on Hopkins will provide critical low-stress bicycle connections to schools and other key destinations for people of all ages and abilities. If the City does not create those connections when the street is repaved, there will continue to be a significant gap in the Cityās low-stress bike network, likely for decades. Send the committee a letter now to let them know that making Hopkins Street safe for ALL is important to you.

You'd think that SF's lower senior voter clout would help with housing issues, but there doesn't seem to be a correlation between younger voter clout and more housing being built. Maybe it does influence transit/bike infrastructure....

The TLDR is that if it goes above 20 mph unassisted, or above 28 mph with pedal assist, then itās NOT an e-bike. Most of the devices people complain about are not e-bikes, & many are not street legal at all. Putting more restrictions on legal e-bikes doesnāt solve this problem.
