The Squamish people of what is now Vancouver were illegally dispossessed of their land 100 years ago. They sued, got the land back, and used their sovereignty to ignore local zoning and build 6,000 new homes over the loud objections of nearby wealthy NIMBYs. Now other tribes are getting in the game.

Finally back in the neighborhood and woof that’s a big hole where people biking are constantly bobbing and weaving to avoid all the drivers going in and out of Trader Joe’s

So I'm pretty diligent about tracking my own expenses and it's maddening how we have absolutely no agreed upon norms when it comes to charges over the subtotal. Some places will tax you the credit card fee, others don't, some will only have tip amounts on the subtotal, others will include everything

The regional transit measure is well on the way to the ballot this November. A massive advocate signature gathering effort - over 1,000 people! - generated (pretty sure) a record 77,100 signatures of the 305,000 total. It would have been very close on timing and qualification without that effort.

Campaign to Fund Bay Area Transit Smashes Signature Gathering Goal | KQED
The campaign needed around 186,000 signatures to qualify a sales tax for the November ballot. It planned to submit over 300,000.

At long last,
#Tahoe
has begun to charge parking prices that reflect the costs imposed on society by motorists. Personally, I don't like to pay for parking, but I can't deny that making me pay for the parking I use is both fair and right.

Tahoe parking enforcement is getting brutal with $450 tickets
Tahoe visitors are facing a sharp new reality this summer: higher parking fees, soaring fines and aggressive enforcement at popular beaches and neighborhoods around the lake.

More people would bike if you made it easier for them to. It is as simple as that. People, given the chance, quickly realize they do not want to be trapped in cars and you should not force them to be in cars to enjoy and get around where they live
