Reporting on stadium deals has to improve. Almost no details have been provided, yet it's being reported that the stadium will be "privately financed" when it absolutely is not. Folks are already saying, "well, this sounds like a better deal." Well, if they start off with lies, it's probably not.

This piece quotes Trump relaying a second-hand claim, from an unnamed friend, that armed thugs used to routinely invade DC restaurants during dinnertime, but makes no effort to fact check that. Call the MPD? The WaPo Metro desk? NOPE. Poor Matt Viser shrugs: "His claims are difficult to check."

This is not true. Blackstone owns 0.06% of the single family homes in America. There is no market where they own more than 1% of the homes. Nobody has a monopoly on housing. 2/3 of American households own their homes and rental housing is a VERY diversified and competitive industry.

The data is in - there are no long-term vacancies, defined as vacant for more than half a year, in the new apartment buildings built in #Berkeley. There are short-term vacancies between when tenants move out and when new ones move in - many are popular with students. 🏘️

So I'm grumpy that we seem to be once again creating a dynamic in our party where the people who got to the right answer sooner are marginalized for doing so, while people who were wrong get credit for changing their minds once it became obvious they were wrong. (See also NAFTA, Iraq War, Gaza.)

I think Democrats should claim that they're going to make immigration tougher, and then simply describe a better version of system when asked about it. Polling consistently shows that the public wants to get tougher, and also that their version of tougher is *weaker than the actual system now.*
