An interesting update here: There may be some issues with one of the big parking decks the Commanders want to build on the RFK site. Recently the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts said the deck to the southeast of the new stadium would interfere with views, and asked that it be moved.

For this year's Kite Fest they closed 15th and 17th. No soundtrack of honking. No violent road rage. Just thousands of people enjoying a nice day. We can, in fact, have nice things.

When NPS closed Hains Point to cars in 2021, it was the freaking best. Every year since then as cars clog our roads and clouds of exhaust mingle with the blossoms, I've been a one-trick pony requesting they learn from this. Vindication, at least for the day!
