I want to thank and commend the law enforcement officers who restored peace at Bertie-Martin Regional Detention Center today. I am relieved that the officers on duty are now safe and that the situation is stabilized. The perpetrators must be held accountable for this horrifying action.

The ferry is a way of life on the coast. It gets people to work and school and supports emergency services, and it is a critical driver of the region’s tourism economy.

Food banks are critical lifelines for families in need, helping to fill the gaps when other services fall through. When the federal government paused SNAP payments last year, we worked with private partners to send more than $20 million to food banks across the state.

Last month, the EPA announced it would stop limiting four PFAS chemicals in our drinking water, including GenX. That’s a big step in the WRONG direction.

Since the beginning of my administration, we have announced more than $1.6 billion in water and wastewater infrastructure investments to make your water safe. NCDEQ Secretary Wilson joined me in Wilmington to meet with the Moore family, whose well water was polluted with PFOA and PFOS.

When our boys brought home the Stanley Cup, Caniacs proved that Raleigh is ready for the big stage. The excitement, visitors, and economic boost from the Stanley Cup Finals was great for the businesses that call Raleigh home.

The proposed deal between the EPA and Chemours does nothing meaningful for North Carolinians. This EPA, which has already weakened protections against chemicals like GenX, is now allowing polluters to pick and choose how and where they’ll fix their contamination – leaving NC with no guarantees.

As the legislature leaves teachers and law enforcement officers waiting for hard-earned and desperately needed pay raises, members of the General Assembly are stoking the culture wars that divide us rather than fulfilling their long-overdue responsibility of passing a budget.

An incredible day in Raleigh to celebrate our Canes!

I’m pleased to see more than $908 million in much-needed emergency relief funding from USDOT for infrastructure damaged by Hurricane Helene. These dollars will be put to work to repair roads and bridges so folks can safely get back on the roads to rediscover the beautiful mountains of western NC.

When we celebrate Juneteenth, we celebrate freedom. It was an honor to celebrate at the People’s House.

Today, on the 249th birthday of our nation’s flag, we honor this beautiful symbol of unity, patriotism, and freedom. As North Carolinians, we can take special pride in being represented on it by both a star and a stripe.

The start of the FIFA World Cup has my high school buddies and me reliving our glory days of the 1983 state championship. We have an exciting summer of soccer ahead of us here in North Carolina, and I’m cheering on the USMNT as they begin their World Cup journey.

Secretary Lilley and I just returned from a week of meetings in Switzerland and Germany where we let business leaders there know that North Carolina is the best place to grow a business and visit.

On my way to DC this morning to advocate for more Helene funding, and I'm pleased to report that earlier this week, FEMA announced additional support for our state – more than $200M to reimburse recovery work and support voluntary buyouts for homeowners in WNC.

⚽️Last week's USMNT’s victory over Senegal in Charlotte provided the perfect send-off for the team before the World Cup begins. ⚽️TST welcomed soccer stars and fans from all over the world to Cary over the past week.
