There’s this social “poor tax” around cars that I despise. Buying a cheap car? the receipt from the dealership is scribbled on a piece of paper. Repairing your old car? Thirteen phone calls and no clear invoice. You want things done properly? Pay 10X as much.

So the car I was looking at turned out to be a scam. I didn’t lose any money, just time. But I am furious. I fucking hate all of this. I hate it so much. Why can nothing ever be simple?

I have dyspraxia. A hand-eye coordination issue. I got diagnosed because my handwriting was illegible in school, so they gave me a computer to type on. But I always wanted to draw. I struggle with it. My art is published in a book. I’m proud of that, even if I don’t believe it some days.

Every piece of software seems to enter a point in its lifecycle I call “futzing” where they just slightly change some functionality/UX without reasoning. YouTube changed how you add to playlists recently, it’s got “more” UI, but it’s worse. It breaks a flow I use a LOT. Anyway Bluesky has an update!

My “hobby” is self hosting and home automation stuff. If I worked on it full time I’d be able to make a very cool setup. Also while I can make “art” already a year to just learn more traditional methods or get better at drawing would be great. I have very little time to do that.

It’s so deeply unfair that I can pay £100 a month for insurance, have my car written off while parked, not my fault. And the payout to not even be enough to replace it. And they withhold £600 of my money *just in case* it’s somehow my fault while they ask the other insurance companies.

Old car taken away, and the temp car goes back in two days. I’m in tears. Not only did I love that car but it was a bit of a lifeline for transport for me. I can’t stand much for my knees, so buses are out of the question and taxis are expensive. Disability stuff takes forever. I feel so lost.

I think one thing that differs me from a lot of my peers is I’m still quite a tech optimist in a lot of regards. I like my smart watch, I like my stuff being connected! I get excited about a lot of tech. I just also think these things really need to justify their existence too.

Apple could break into the games industry really well if they truly committed. The hardware would be amazing. But it’s not their market and they’d have to open up more. It’ll never happen. My moon shot? I think they’d make the best smart fridge. Even if that’s a low bar to clear.

The amount of bad luck and stress we've had is, quite literally, unbelievable. I'd only just got my car back from a £450 repair 3 weeks ago. If you can't help, please share. I don't know what to say or do but I just want to live, I want life to stop hurting. I hate asking. I'm just desperate.

My car was written off this week (Not my fault. It was parked). My partner has had her first appointment for disability support. We're really struggling. Mentally, financially and physically. I need to replace the car now, and the payout isn't that much.

Dualsense, I run through steam even for the non steam client so I can rebind some keys. I think I’d like the new steam controller because there’s some additional keybinds I’d like. I use keyboard / mouse if I’m doing casual stuff, jumping puzzles, or crafting.

My neighbour is giving me aggro about where my (written off) car is parked. Partner Told them we won’t move it because insurance told us not to. “Are you being awkward”. Like, no? It’s parked in front of my house btw. It’s not blocking anything. I live on a main road.

I actually planned on doing #ldjam for the fist time in a few years but then… well. Unfortunately I don’t want to add more stress in my life than I’m already under.

I added a post to my ko fi with some of the damage. Do you want to know the really sad part? You may know I post about a cat that visits us sometimes. It was his parents (my neighbours) that hit my car. And poor kitty passed away in January. I swear it’s so much sadness.

Hey, we're in a rough patch this week and things are tight. I've had my PIP Assessment yesterday, and Luna's been dealing with insurance stress for days. If anyone can help, even by sharing this, you've no idea how much it helps right now.
